Words are the expression of the spirit and the soul. But what happens when words fail?
We all know what it’s like when we want to express a thought, feeling or worry, but the words just won’t come out. Perhaps because we’re scared of the reaction, because we feel ashamed or don’t want to hurt the other person. Often we only recognize the negative impact of this inability to find one’s voice on relationships when it’s too late. From the outside it is very difficult to tell why someone has been holding back a secret for years and can’t find the courage to speak openly.
Using examples from his long career as a therapist, the pupil of Viktor Frankl demonstrates why the time to say something may be exactly the moment when words fail us.
