Who Is Afraid of Donald Trump?

Risks, Opportunities, Insights, Prospects

Is he coming back?

We look across the Atlantic and wonder: What do we make of Donald Trump? Is it possible that a man who has been indicted several times becomes president of the USA once again? How seriously should we take this man? The world certainly has to reckon with him.

Donald Trump’s presidency 2017-2021 divided the US nation. The international community thought the foreign policy under Trump was a temporary phenomenon. However, what happened in the pre-election period of 2024 forced the world to realize: Trump makes policy, regardless of whether he is in office or not. Hannelore Veit already covered Trump’s first term in office as head of the ORF (Austrian television broadcast) Washington bureau. During the 2024 primaries, she traveled the US and captured sentiments across the political spectrum—from the academic elites to rural communities. Her current views and insights give us an educated guess at the future of US-American politics and the new world order that may result.
